Kristin Hartman

This body of work expresses my fascination with nature’s unique and beautiful design. I find myself most drawn to the way light interacts with form, and how it can alter the space in which it falls. For me, light unravels the mysteries of the natural world.

Each painting comes about rapidly with an irregular application of paint, allowing unplanned images to emerge within the work. The continual movement and shifting of light that occurs in nature, then becomes part of my own inner shifting and change as I move swiftly through the paintings. Through this process, I seek to create mysterious and intriguing environments for myself and for the viewer to explore.
